WASHINGTON, D.C.-- In a bombshell interview with ABC news,
the ex-wife of Newt Gingrich claimed that Newt asked for an
open marriage. According to the results of a new poll, the vast
majority of American males aged 30-65 would at a minimum do
the very same thing.
The poll, conducted in the days following the interview's airing,
asked 1052 men of marriage age what they would do if they were
locked into a matrimonial nightmare for the rest of eternity with
Marianne Gingrich. Less than one in ten men would not ask for
an open marriage while married to Ms. Gingrich, who is--if
Newt's memoirs are to be believed--an exceptionally controlling
and vindictive amalgam of Nurse Ratched and Lady Macbeth.
Nearly half of the respondents indicated they would threaten to
kill themselves rather than face a traditional 'closed' marriage
with Marianne Gingrich. Of those threatening suicide, at least
three quarters said they would be "totally fu----- serious about
it."
